The Great Monterey Scavenger Hunt
Team building scavenger hunts your group in meetings all day leaving little time to get out and see the area? We’ve got the perfect solution – the Great Monterey Scavenger Hunt!
A scavenger hunt is a fun and interesting way to discover the Monterey Peninsula’s historic waterfront area and Cannery Row while giving the teams the opportunity to work together. Remember, Monterey isn’t that large so the entire distance a Scavenger Hunt covers can be less than a mile, yet the teams stay busy while having fun!
The “Hunt” involves three parts: photos, physical evidence and questions to answer. Depending on your group’s time frame, we choose the route and send them out to different areas of the City – Cannery Row, Fisherman’s Wharf, Historic Downtown Monterey or Lake El Estero. Questions given to the teams can only be answered by visiting the specific locations so the teams have the opportunity to see a bit of the City. Using individual’s smartphones and a challenging list of photo opportunities worth different point values, we give the teams a chance to strategize and use creativity. Gathering physical evidence requires keeping eyes open and also bit of creative thinking!
Scavenger Hunts can begin and end in various locations, including your hotel, a local restaurant or our rental shops. Surreys or bikes can also be used although walking is usually the most enjoyable!
Teams compete to amass the most points. We award ribbons to the first, second and third place teams, and usually, throw in a “bobby” prize for the last-place team! Our staff is out on the course making sure that the teams don’t break the cardinal rule: “Beware of the three I’s – nothing illegal, illicit or immoral!!!”
A New Twist!
We are always updating and adapting our programs to new ideas. The latest interest in philanthropic programs has driven us to create an alternate scavenger hunt program that mixes the intent to “give back” with the fun and comraderie of a scavenger hunt adventure. We have various forms that you can consider — gathering items as part of the event to pack into a basket or backpack to be donated to a local non-profit group or even competiting for points that can be turned into monetary donations, honoring the team with the most points but allowing them to donate the money to a charity of their choice.
Time: Anywhere from 1 hour – 3 hours
